Please read through the frequently asked questions (FAQs) if you have any questions about using this website.
How to Register
You will only need to register with the site should you wish to enter competitions via the free online entry mechanism or sign up to some of the campaigns on the site. Once you have registered and provided your name and address details, you will be able to enter future competitions without having to key in your name and address each time.
To register, click on Competitions on the homepage and then click on Login. You will then be shown the option to Create New Account. Click onto this link create new account and fill in the details requested. All of the fields marked with a red asterisk must be completed. Please choose your user name carefully as you cannot change this once you have created your account. Once you are happy with the content click onto the 'Create New Account' button at the bottom of the screen. Once you have done this, you will be taken into a screen that confirms your account details and your account details will be e-mailed to your registered e-mail address within one hour of registration.
You can only create one account per registered email address. Should more than one person in your household wish to register with the site, we recommend that you use an alternate email address. You will also need to create an unique username and password for the account.
Please note that you can only enter competitions from Take a Break's Puzzle Magazines on this site. Should you wish to enter the competitions from Take a Break, please click here. You will need to register again separately on Take a Break's website to enter competitions from the weekly magazine.
If you are having problems logging in, first check that you entered the correct email address and password. If these are correct and you still can't login, try re-registering — it's possible you failed to complete the registration process, by not clicking onto the Create New Account button.
Forgotten Passwords / Forgotten Usernames
Please note that usernames and passwords are case sensitive. We recommend that once you have keyed in your account details, you make note of your username and password and store these in a safe place so that you can remember them next time you want to visit the site.
If you have forgotten your user name, you should still be able to login using your email address as long as you can remember your password. Once you are logged in, you can click on Your Details to review your account information.
If you have forgotten your password, please click onto the Request New Password button (found near the Create New Account button). You will then be able to enter your email address and have your new password emailed to you instantly. Should your password fail to appear after one hour, then please check the junk mail box in your email account, as it is possible that the email was sent but has been filtered out by your spam filter.
Changing your account details
Should you wish to change your account details, you can do so by logging into the site in the normal way, then click onto the Your Details button. You will then be able to change your account details by clicking on the Edit button that appears at the top of the screen. Please remember you will need to click Save at the bottom of the screen to save any changes made. Please note that you cannot change your username, but can change your password.
Entering competitions online is a free service.
To enter a competition, you must be registered and logged in. Please see above for details on how to register. Once you have logged in, you can use the search field or drop-down menu to find the magazine you'd like to enter a competition in. You will then see all open competitions for the chosen title. Click onto the issue you wish to enter, enter your answer(s) in their respective field(s). It does not matter whether this is in upper or lower case. When you have entered all your answers, tick the box below to confirm you are ready to submit your answers and then press Enter. You will then see confirmation of your submission.
If you are logged in but can't see the latest competition, it's possible that you are viewing a page held in your computer's cache. The cache is a temporary storage area where your internet browser holds frequently accessed data for rapid access re-use, the page loads faster rather than re-fetching or recomputing the original data. Here are instructions of how clear the cache for the 3 most popular Internet Browsers:
- With Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Delete browsing history, for the Temporary Internet Files option click Delete files.
- With Safari, click on the Safari Menu then the Empty cache option.
- With FireFox, click on the FireFox Menu, then Preferences, click the Advanced Icon, then the Network tab and click on the clear now button for Cache
After you have cleared the cache, re-load the website and login. You should now be able to see all open competitions.
Clicked the submit button too soon? Unfortunately as this is a FREE service we cannot accept responsibility for any entries submitted in error. Please therefore submit your entry by one of the alternative routes, i.e. by post, phone or text.
From time to time, during periods of peak demand the site may crash and you may receive an error message once you submit the competition. We do apologise for this, but cannot submit entries on behalf of disappointed users. Please wait a while and then try again.
The Take a Break Puzzle website is highly secure. You have to login to be able to see your personal details. Your username and password is unique to you. Please ensure that you do not give your username and password to anyone else.
