Hitoshi - what do you think???
Hello fellow puzzlers. Hope you're enjoying the great Brisith summer (where's the sun gone now???). At least come rain or shine we still have our puzzles!
So, what do you think about the new Hitoshi puzzles? I've just worked my way through the first issue & have to say, I'm hooked! I'm already a Sudoku fan, but was looking for a new challenge & think I've found it.
Although I found the first few a bit too easy I thought that they were a good introduction to a new puzzle concept, so didn't mind too much. Anyway, by the time I got to the 6x6 puzzles I was enjoying the fact that I was having to think a bit harder, recall my times tables & do more complicated additions & subtractions.
How have you got on with them? Have they replaced an old favourite or are you doing Hitoshi puzzles as well as other ones? I think there's a place for variety in puzzles, but do also like the fact that if you buy a specialist magazine there's more scope for working through to tougher puzzles. Where do you find the best puzzles?
Look forward to hearing what others think.

It's always nice to have a new puzzle magazine out, although I echo the sentiments that the first issue was way too easy, and hope that this will be rectified soon. (For the record, even the first few 6x6 puzzles were too easy in my view, only the last 10 or so puzzles in the book challenged me at all, so obviously this is the kind of difficulty I'd prefer you to focus on).
Admittedly, I have had a fair bit of practice at the puzzles before though, as I have worked through the Times book of Ken Ken. (Different name, same puzzle)
Also, I sent a cheque to you to cover my subscription fee. This was cashed in the last week of June, so I know it has been received. I haven't yet received Issue 2 in the post yet. Is this a fault with the postal service, or is it because the first issue I am supposed to receive is Issue 3?
Thanks,
Neil
Hi, you are right they are addictive, but a little too easy. The harder "Killer Sudoku's" keep me going for ages but each one of these was minutes with the easier ones being a bit like just filling in numbers. Keep them coming I am looking forward to more 7x7's next month. Ian
enjoyed it, nice to have a different kind of puzzle for the monthly mags :)
Thanks Puzzle Fan. As a newish puzzle to us, it was difficult to judge the difficulty level in this first issue. Too hard and we risk alienating readers who might otherwise enjoy the puzzle once they have become accustomed to it. Too easy and it can be a little dull for the first few pages. Perhaps we were a little too generous for the first issue and you'll find we've tweaked the difficulty level for no.2. After that, we're already looking at eliminating the 3x3s and most of the 4x4s and including harder 7x7s at the back. Keep the comments coming and help us edit the magazine the way you want it
